Lower School Principal
Covenant Day School seeks a new Lower School Principal to begin serving in the role in July, 2020 in support of the school's mission.
Summary Job Description The Lower School Principal is a committed and passionate Christian leader with enthusiasm for biblically integrated academic excellence. He or she understands and enthusiastically supports the school’s mission, vision and strategy and demonstrates the ability to translate them into actionable goals for the Lower School. The Principal maintains a cohesive team and sense of community among students, parents, faculty and staff, inspires and leads the Lower school faculty and staff, and works to ensure outstanding results are measurably achieved. He or she is the spiritual leader of the Lower School and has high expectations for the faculty, staff, and students with vision for helping every student reach his/her potential and for establishing the Lower School program as a standard of Christian school excellence. The Lower School Principal maintains a balance between effective daily operations and critical long-term planning for the Lower school. He or she is a dynamic and creative professional, highly motivated and committed, with a good sense of humor and an ability to cope with the unexpected. The Principal is responsible for training and supervising all teachers and support staff. He or she is to ensure that students participating in the school’s programs are taught, trained, and supervised in a manner consistent with the school’s mission, policies, standards, and values, generally accepted standards of the teaching profession, and biblical standards of conduct and lifestyle. The Principal is to take the lead in communicating with the CDS and broader community to provide a compelling picture of CDS academics now and in the future. The Principal’s effectiveness in communicating about the academic program to current parents and students, the community, and prospective families is important to building support and active participation. The Principal reports under the administrative direction of the Head of School and is a salaried (exempt) faculty member. The position currently manages forty-four faculty, teacher assistants and administrative colleagues. Membership in the school’s parent church, Christ Covenant Church, is required while serving in the role.
