Youth Pastor
We seek teacher applicants with qualifications and experience in US, Canadian, UK or European curriculum K-12 education.
- An individual who demonstrates a growing relationship with the Lord, a teachable spirit, and a personal/family life honoring to the Lord.
- Possesses a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Capable of developing, casting, and carrying out a long-term vision for ministry within the Hillcrest community.
- An engaging teacher/speaker who can accurately and clearly expound on Biblical truths and who has Biblically sound theology.
- A self-motivated leader who is capable of casting vision, and relating appropriately with students, volunteers/staff, administrators, and parents.
- Has experience with ministering to children and youth.
Job Requirements
- Organize Sunday morning worship services:
- 10:00-11:00 (roughly)
- Worship Leaders
- Preaching/ Organize Preachers
- Special Events- i.e. testimonies, special ministrations, scripture reading
- Announcements, corporate prayer
- Organize Wednesday Middle School/High School chapels:
- 8:10-8:40
- Worship leaders
- Speakers
- Decorations
- Organize Tuesday Discipleship groups for 6th-12th grade:
- Recruit/Train Discipleship Leaders
- Touch base with leaders to talk through any difficulties and assess their capability/appropriateness
- Discipleship Groups take place from 3:30- 5:00 on Tuesdays
- Run Connections:
- Recruit 12 high school leaders (6 boys, 6 girls)
- Preferably upper classmen
- Have weekly/bi-weekly planning meetings with high school leaders
- Run monthly (first Sunday of the month) Connections program for Middle School Students
- Teach Two Classes:
- Usually these are two high school Bible classes
- Report to the Middle School or High School principal
- Attend Friday Elementary Chapels and be prepared for occasionally speaking
- Coordinate Spiritual Emphasis Week:
- Takes place each semester
- Invite a speaker and coordinate worship leader(s)
- Coordinate meals, visiting classes, other details with the correct staffing personnel.
- Oversee the use and maintenance of the chapel building
- Coordinate the Baccalaureate service with senior parents and administration
- Be willing to chair/lead the Spiritual Life Committee
- Expectations:
- Report monthly to the Spiritual Life Committee
- Report to the Superintendent quarterly
- Provide counseling and spiritual direction to students and staff as needed
- Regularly attend school events to support students and build rapport with them
- Develop relationships with local ministries to facilitate outreach, evangelism, service, and intentional and limited speaker engagements
- Implement and improve current programs as well as develop new ones that facilitate effective ministry
- Communicate regularly and promptly with parents, staff, and students about programs/events
- Serve as a chaperone/sponsor for a variety of extra-curricular events:
- These serve as a great time to build relationships with students
- Intentionally engage in professional development:
- Furthering education
- Attending seminars/conferences
- Reading material to stay engaged with modern issues and challenges
- Plan and Implement Retreats:
- Purity Retreat for high school boys and girls:
- Bi-annually
- Maintain appropriate Sabbaths and boundaries:
- Monday & Thursday mornings are given to the Youth Pastor for rest
