Job Requirements

• Assist in 8 class periods over 3 days. Co-planning time as needed.
• Assist in the planning, instructional delivery and implementation of a comprehensive band program that will foster success for 5th grade/beginning band, 6th grade band, and 7th/8th/advanced band.
• Enjoy working with middle school students.
• Have a heart for Jesus.
• Be reliable and dependable in job attendance and performance.
• Assist with teaching beginners how to care for and play their instruments during rehearsals and sectionals.
• For the first few months of beginning band, teach half of the class as a sectional (either woodwinds or brass/percussion).
• Listen to and grade students' playing tests.
• Diagnose and make minor instrument repairs and assist with instrument maintenance.
• Instruct students on their instruments at their level.
• Monitor each student's progress and provide as much individualization as possible.
• Lead sectionals.
• Assist with choosing Solo & Ensemble music for upper level bands.
• Accompany students for Solo & Ensemble as needed.
• Assist with maintaining a current and accurate band equipment inventory and music library.
• Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the bands.
• Additional hours may be available to aide in other areas/classrooms.
