Middle & High School Band Director

Band Job Responsibilities:
- Teach from a Christian world view and share Biblical truth with students
- Direct instrumental performers, including beginners, intermediate, advanced, soloists, ensembles, and performance/competition.
- Establish high performance requirements and enforce academic requirements.
- Provide for band participation at extra-curricular events, including concerts, football games, pep rallies, parades, and FMEA district and state activities.
- Work with the transportation department to arrange transportation for events taking place off campuses.
- Engage in efforts to increase the quality and participation in the BCS band program.
- Comply with state and federal laws, rules, and board policy regarding band.
- Engage parents and families for their involvement in the BCS music program and garner support for band fundraising activities.
- Interpret and implement sound budgetary practices in accordance with school and district guidelines.
- Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets within department.
- Oversee the process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all band equipment.
- Develop and execute instrumental music programs.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that include differentiated learning strategies to meet the needs of multiple learning styles present in the band classroom.
- Evaluate and place students in band classes according to their ability.
- Create a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Apply and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, student handbook, and band handbook.
- Accompany and supervise students on all trips.
- Promote campus, district, and community awareness of band activities and performances.
- Actively participate in district and area music events, including festivals, FMEA events, etc.
- Recruit, and evaluate private lessons instructors and clinicians.
- Communicate with principal/counselor regarding scheduling student needs.
Job Requirements
Experience And Skill Requirements:
- Strong brass and/or percussion skills
- Two years of experience teaching band in an accredited school setting
- Ability to manage budgets, scheduling, and personnel.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a team player with a desire to help and serve others
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent district and occasional statewide travel
- Occasional outdoor work
- Frequent lifting and movement of instruments
- Lifting up to 15 pounds at times
Education Requirements
- FL Teaching Certificate or Statement of Eligibility
- Bachelor's Degree or higher, music degree preferred
- Knowledge of state, district, and FMEA policies governing band activities.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
