Learning Support Services Coordinator
Abbotsford Christian School is accepting applications for a full-time Learning Support Services Coordinator at our elementary campus.
The Learning Support Services Coordinator (Special Education & Learning Assistance) is responsible for the development of student learning plans and individualized education plans as well as determining the appropriate supports needed to meet student learning needs. The coordinator is supervised by the campus principal and the Director of Learning Support Services, collaborates with other coordinators, and is assisted in development and implementation by teachers and educational assistants.

- Demonstrate a willingness to learn
The applicant would have the following characteristics:
- Friendly, even-tempered, and a servant-hearted attitude toward staff, parents, and students
- Deep and disciplined understanding of the Christian worldview
- Relational, adaptable, professional, confident, and optimistic
- Confident communication skills with parents, students, and staff/coworkers
Education Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Education degree (or equivalent)
- Hold, or be eligible for, a valid BC Teaching Certificate and meet the requirements of the ACS Employment of Teachers Contract
- Minimum two years of successful classroom teaching
- University course work in the following areas:
- Credentials in special education
- Assessment/testing theory and practice
- Strategies for teaching, adapting, and modifying the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students
- Collaborative consultation
- In addition, courses in the following areas are recommended:
- Meeting the needs of students with specific exceptions (i.e., autism, developmental delays, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), etc.)
- Meeting the diverse behavioral needs in the classroom
- Computer technology for the classroom
- Non-violent de-escalation training
