Middle School Science Teacher

ECCS is seeking candidates for the position of Middle School Science Teacher for the balance of the 2020-2021 school year.

Candidates for this position must be in agreement with the school philosophy and methodology of teaching and hold skills and knowledge in an integrated teaching approach using the designated middle school science curriculum. This position is approximately 70% of a full-time position working with middle school students.

Job Requirements

We seek a teacher with qualifications in the following areas:

  • Communicates a passion for teaching and learning both in the classroom and in life.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to developing and maintaining positive teacher/student relationships and promotes student engagement through their teaching.
  • Understands and embraces the philosophy of the covenant school and its uniqueness. Stays current on recent trends, innovations, and research in teaching content.
  • Develops instruction plans, prepares materials and prepares the classroom for class activities. Ensures the implementation of the middle school science curriculum according to the scope and sequence outlined in the school curriculum handbook.
  • Observes and evaluates students’ knowledge and academic abilities to the end of appropriate lesson progression and developmental expectations. Keeps appropriate student records.
  • Effectively integrates lessons with biblical principles showing a proper understanding of the child as an image bearer as well as a sinner in need of a Savior.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to whole child teaching and learning as well as developmentally appropriate instructional strategies. Utilizes manipulatives and hands-on learning.
  • Maintains a classroom atmosphere consistent with the school philosophy and utilizes classroom management skills that promote an orderly, positive, and creative/natural learning environment.
  • Understands the parent as the primary educator of the child and the need to work to maintain a positive parent and teacher partnership.
  • Keeps parents and administration adequately informed of student progress or deficiencies and gives sufficient notice of issues requiring intervention.
  • Uses opportunities to display student work which positively demonstrates student learning, communicates the rich ECCS curriculum to parents and visitors, and creates an inviting classroom atmosphere.
  • Participates in all calendared school functions (including parent meetings, school programs and special events), staff development days, in-service and post planning days.
  • Science Education degree along with a teaching certificate is preferred.
  • Prior classroom teaching experience is preferred.

Education Requirements
