CSI Accreditation Commission Approves 111 Member Schools

We are so excited and thankful to God that the number of schools accredited through Christian Schools International continues to grow, with 133 schools currently accredited or in the process of doing so. Our accreditation process, grounded in a reformed transformational worldview, is focused on a continual school improvement process, allowing CSI to support schools in their journeys toward excellence in implementing their Christian missions. Over the past years, we have intentionally moved from a tool that could be viewed more as an evaluative checklist for schools to a school improvement process that is now genuinely focused on reflective self study, collaborative relationship, and the development of targeted, dynamic school improvement plans.

As CSI’s director of accreditation, Sheryl Jo is honored to read the school improvement plans that are established through the accreditation process. “It is an engaging and thought-provoking experience to read the improvement goals that originate from a school’s self study and from collaborative time spent with the accreditation site visit team. Our Christian schools, regardless of size, location, or model, celebrate many of the same joys and share many of the same struggles. I see the potential for great power in that and a call for future action to support one another in our shared missions.”

Jeff Droog, superintendent of Mount Vernon Christian School and current chair of the CSI Accreditation Commission, which meets annually each July to approve all school accreditations, shared about the accreditation process. “In reading through the Commission accreditation reports each July, I am always so appreciative of the quality of Christian education nationwide. It inspires me to continue to do better at my own school. CSI’s school improvement process supports schools in being consistent and excellent in pursuing their missions. It does so through building relationships and by learning from one another. Many individuals have shared that being a member of a CSI accreditation site visit team was some of the best professional development that they have ever done.”

The CSI Accreditation team is so thankful for the work of Jeff and the five other volunteer accreditation commission members, as well as so many other individuals who have volunteered their time to be members of CSI accreditation site visit teams. The accreditation process could not be done as efficiently without this support and commitment!

We are thrilled to announce that on July 10, 2019, the CSI Accreditation Commission renewed and approved the accreditation status of 111 CSI member schools. In addition, there are currently 22 schools who have been granted accreditation candidacy status. These schools are located in 30 different states as well as in Washington DC and the Dominican Republic. Please join us in congratulating each of these schools for the steps they have taken in achieving excellence in implementing their missions and their desire to continually improve their school communities in doing the good work that God has planned for them.
