    THE WRITING BEGINS

April 2007

  • Search begins for writers and Grade Level Advisors for Preschool through Grade 6.

  • Numerous writers are enlisted, which is a new approach for CSI: One writer per grade and each writer supported and peer-reviewed by three Grade Level Advisors.

  • New curriculum development process: CSI Curriculum & Editorial Team > Writer > Three Grade Level Advisors > Each Grade Level Advisor conducts focus groups of about ten people > Feedback is returned to CSI Curriculum & Editorial Team for review and integration into curriculum > Review of completed curriculum by theologian > Theological editing integrated into curriculum.

March 2007

  • CSI Board of Trustees approves the proposal to move forward with a revision of The Story of God and His People. The project is considered a revision (3rd edition) because it is built on the solid foundation of the CSI Bible Curriculum.

  • The newly revised curriculum (currently untitled) will incorporate much of the feedback from the survey and focus groups.

  • The curriculum will feature three main themes or emphases:

    • Head

    • Heart

    • Hands
  • Teachers have been requesting that the new curriculum remain strong in biblical content and knowledge (Head), but they are seeking additional materials and support for helping students value biblical ideas and respond to God with faith and virtue (Heart) and apply God’s truth in life through worship to God and service to others (Hands).

Summer 2006
