Categories of Membership

In order to better serve the specific needs of its members, Christian Schools International has four categories of membership: Regular, Associate, Affiliate and Emerging School. Regular members have voting privileges within CSI, while Associate, Affiliate and Emerging School members do not. Full descriptions of each category of membership can be found below.

REGULAR (voting membership)

Granted to existing Christian schools with students enrolled in one or more of the grades Preschool through 12, operating in the United States or Canada that:


  • agree fully with the Basis and Principles as stated in Article II of the CSI Bylaws.

  • agree fully with the Purpose of CSI as stated in Article V of the CSI Bylaws.

  • have and follow written policies that disallow discrimination based upon sex, color, national or ethnic origin for student admission, scholarship, staff hiring, loan programs, school programs, and
    activities.

  • have legal status:

    • United States: Non-profit 501c(3) status with the IRS, or tax-exempt status or incorporation in the state in which the organization exists.

    • Canada: Non-profit status or incorporation in the province in which the school exists.

    • have a governing body which sets policy and is responsible for the administration and maintenance of the philosophy, purpose, and constitution or bylaws of the school.

    • are in compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local laws regarding taxation, health and safety, employment, and certification.


ASSOCIATE (non-voting membership)

Granted to existing Christian schools with students enrolled in one or more of the grades Preschool through 12, operating in the United States or Canada, meeting requirements 2-6 listed above, but are not in full agreement with the Basis and Principles of CSI as stated in Article II of the CSI Bylaws.

AFFILIATE (non-voting membership)

United States and Canada: Granted to Christian colleges, institutions, and educational organizations, or those serving the same that meet requirements 1-6 listed above.

Foreign: Granted to existing Christian schools or other educational institutions operating one or more of the grades Preschool through 12 and meet requirements 1-6 above, as applicable to national requirements.

EMERGING SCHOOL (non-voting membership)

This category of membership is offered to school associations or other legal entities that are making plans to start a Christian school and agree with CSI’s Basis and Principles as set forth in Article II of the CSI Bylaws.
