History

Founded in 1920, Christian Schools International was the first national organization to serve Christian schools. From its eight charter members in the US, Christian Schools International has grown into an organization serving throughout North America and the world.

Christian Schools International’s initial programs included advancing the professional status of teachers and principals, promoting education in print and in public forums, and providing textbooks and other instructional materials. Many of these programs were initiated at Christian Schools International’s earliest conventions, a tradition of bringing school leaders together that continues in a variety of ways.

Since our start in 1920, we have greatly expanded our programs. Curriculum publishing, a pension plan for member schools, and health insurance programs are now established services we have offered for decades. Programs for teacher training and administrator support have also grown steadily through the years. Leadership conventions have taken place since our start, providing valuable opportunities for school leaders to interact and develop their skills. Over the years, Christian Schools International has developed mentoring and certification programs as well as online learning tools for teachers and students, and while programs may change, our commitment to supporting schools and their faculty remains.

With a history of steady growth, solid leadership, and exceptional service, Christian Schools International looks optimistically toward the future. Our twin goals of advancing and supporting Christian education mean that we are constantly listening to our members, discerning their needs, and striving to support the important work they do in their schools. Christian Schools International leads our members by following the needs of believers in education and supporting their mission in their community.
