I am so proud of you and also in awe!! I wish I could have been there. I love the picture of you with your family that was there supporting you and cheering you on. It’s neat that they could surprise you by cheering you on in other places and that you were able to hear them.

Howard,

God bless this weekend in Berlin. I hope you are healthy and ready to go. I’ll be praying for you.

Your bear joke in the last posting actually came true to me two weeks ago on a boundry water trip as I was running the final 1-mile portage with a canoe on my head. I heard a grunt to my right but kept on running (oh and making lots of noise and I started singing “When peace like a river.” The others in my group verified later as they came through that same spot that there was a black bear 10 feet off the trail. He either was lazy or not hungry or didn’t like my singing.

Anyway, blessings to you. I run my marathon on October 5. Somehow Berlin sounds a whole lot more exciting than Milwaukee.

Howard,

I’ve enjoyed our many conversations about our running experiences over the past few years and really enjoyed our early morning run in St. Louis at the CSI Leadership Convention this summer (even though it was HOT and HUMID!). I’m so excited for you and the great challenge and opportunity that God is providing for you over these next several months.
